Lot of 4 handmade dolls with dark complexions, black braided hair, and black eyes. These dolls are made of cloth. The set includes 4 girl dolls that were Handmade DECADES Ago. They are perfect for all folklore collectors of African Themed International, black folk art and black cultures and ethnicities collections with bright and colorful traditional, Time-Period-Correct costumes.
Sizes range between 4" inches and 12" inches tall.
The simplest but most valuable and collectible doll of this lot of four (4) African Dolls, is the very special 4" Beaded Ndebele Doll (Rare find Valued Between $30 to $75 by itself in other shops and on other websites I'm not allowed to mention on this platform!)
This is a REAL Ndebele Doll from South Africa made with glass and plastic beads.
ABOUT THE Ndebele Doll:
One of the smallest tribes of the region, the Ndebele are noted for their painted homes of brilliant colors that stand out in the drab countryside. Their clothing is similarly colorful. The bead work on these Ndebele dolls is as detailed as the clothing of the women themselves.
During courtship, a suitor will place a doll outside a young woman's hut, indicating his intention to propose marriage to her. When a young woman is preparing to marry, she is given a doll that she names and cares for.
Her first child is then named after the doll!
