MICHAEL SIMON is considered among the best studio potters who ever lived.  This completely squared form, with lid was first spun round on the potters wheel and with no cracks and perfect fitted lid, it exists as a testament to exactly how finely crafted and difficult that is to do. ;)  try it.  !

You are bidding on this nice example of Michael Simon Studio Pottery Art Ceramics, know as a "PERSIAN JAR" bc he so admired the persian ancient ceramics, Michael was also an avid fisherman and loved native trout and salmon, so his fish motif are considered among his best and most Iconic .  


Michael Simon collectors will know his work well, so no need to give his extensive history, but he was a student of Warren MacKenzie and a major contributor to the Mingei-sota movement of handmade studio ceramics.  


This is a CLASSIC form, with Iconic matte black brushwork or japanese style fish and wood fired glaze.  

   

It measures approximately, 7 inches wide, 5 1/2 inches tall, and 5 inches at the widest. it's pressed in a square shape with perfect fitted lid and has nice four raised feet, also signed well with stamp MS
