Ronnie Romero and Nozomi Wakai performed as a cover unit at METAL WEEKEND 2019 on CD! The DVD includes three songs featuring special guest violinist Ayasa!
Destinia's album Metal Souls was produced in 2018 by Ronnie Romero, Nozomi Wakai, Marco Mendoza, and Tommy Aldridge. This album contains footage of Ronnie and Wakai's appearance at the metal event METAL WEEKEND held at Zepp DiverCity in 2019 as a cover project, which was well received after their solo performance at Destinia.
The cover album [Raised on Radio] released as a solo album in 2022 is still fresh in the memory as a cover song sung by Ronnie Romero. In contrast to that, the cover songs included in this work are a lineup of famous masterpieces. The selection of songs decided by Wakai and Ronnie in consultation with each other includes songs that are in line with his activities, such as Ronnie, who was said to be Freddie Mercury + Ronnie James Dio, singing Queen songs and MSG's Looking for Love before joining MSG.
In addition, Destinia's songs are now being performed in special versions with Ayasa, a female violinist who is active in various scenes. This collaboration was realized when Wakai and Ayasa performed together, and it was a turning point for Wakai to provide Ayasa with original songs afterwards, and it was a live performance that had a big impact on Ayasa.
The members' friendship is apparent in the performance, and the good flow from the rehearsals in Madrid is apparent in Ronnie's singing and Wakai's guitar. The audience was also excited by the succession of famous songs, and the atmosphere unique to covers is firmly recorded on both the CD and DVD.
Now that the band has finally resumed their Japan tours, Memories of Metal Weekend is being released. This album condenses and conveys the greatness of classic hard rock songs, making it the perfect album to recall the energy that can only be felt at a live performance.
