History

The Maison des Femmes de Paris is a non-mixed women's home in the 11th arrondissement of Paris that originated from a women's group in Saint Denis in the 1970s and 1980s. The group organizes weekly permanence’s for women who have experienced violence, offering support, guidance, and an environment of acceptance. In 1980, the group found a location, and construction began in June 1981.

In the mid-1980s, the Lesbia magazine, which covers lesbians in France, mentioned that the Maison des Femmes de Paris has a cafe called Hydromel that's open on Friday and Saturday nights and is exclusively for lesbians.

Biography or History:

This feminist association was created in 1981 to promote contacts and solidarity between women; fight against discrimination against women because of their sex, social or cultural origin, nationality or sexual choice; encourage women's initiatives of a cultural, artistic, social and political nature; welcome the activities of different feminist and/or lesbian groups, collectives or associations, while preserving the plurality, diversity and specificity of each of these organizations; disseminate the writings of women in all fields; exhibit works created by women.

The Maisons des Femmes, in France (Nantes, Montreuil, Bordeaux, Lille), can be defined as spaces of solidarity, initiatives, living spaces, organized by and for women. All are inspired by a common philosophy, feminism, having more or less different orientations, particularly in terms of priority areas or specific practices. This depends on the needs identified in the respective areas and the requests of the users/participants, but also the sensitivities of the women who are at the origin, and also the material and financial possibilities, granted, for example, by institutions (town halls, departments...).

The Maison des femmes de Paris hosts other associations such as: ARCL, FSCS, November 6 Group, I protect motherhood, La Meute, RAJFIRE, Réseau femmes Ile-de-France, REZAF and Voix rebels.

ARCL

Created in 1983, this documentation center for lesbian cultures bears witness to lesbian, feminist and homosexual movements and groups. It is constantly enriched through subscriptions and exchanges, book purchases, and donations of old and recent documents.

Bijou

I have been an owner of numerous gay sexual businesses’ since 1969, one of them was the Bijou Theater and sex club that closed in 2015. I have been a manufacturer, producer, filmmaker, wholesaler, collector and reseller of gay porn, sexuality, erotica, all things adult since 1969. I set prices for collectible items based on what I paid, quality, rarity, market value. I cater to collectors, those who give gifts, those who are looking for a specific man, item, article etc. Bijou's inventory is over 35,000 magazines plus thousands of brochures etc.

As a collector myself I dislike it when sellers misrepresent items their offering by making very general descriptions as Very Good, Excellent, Like New, New knowing that the items have creases, tears, rusted staples, very visible wear or just leaving defects out. I spent the time to give the best descriptions that accurately describe the items I'm selling so you can make an honest purchasing decision.

Bijou business is keeping gay history alive in its many forms, Gay Porn DVD and VHS, 8mm film, Magazines, Gay Political Magazines and Newsletters, Mail-order-Brochures, Clothing, Note Cards, Books, Posters, Photo's, Poppers, Gay Newspapers, Calendars, Novelties, etc.
