Israel 1 Lira 1960 "50th Anniversary of Kibbutz Degania" KM#28

Description of the coin:

The second of the Hanukka commemorative coins is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the collective settlement Degania: "Mother of the co-operative villages". The coin also commemorates the jubilee of Israel's collective agricultural movement.

Obverse

 On the top left, the word "Israel" in Hebrew and Arabic. Underneath, the year of issue in Hebrew and English, "5720-1960". On the lower right, in Hebrew, "1 Israeli Lira".

Reverse

Degania is seen on the shore of Lake Kinneret, with a silhouette of cypresses, palms and dwellings, and in enlarged Hebrew characters to the left, is its name "Degania". In a half-circle round the upper rim, the word: "Jubilee of Collective Settlement" are inscribed in Hebrew.

Edge: Smooth.

 

Mint Marks

On the reverse of the proof coin the letter "mem" between two cypresses.

Mintage: 49,455.
