c1906 Katzenjammer Kids Heat Up Novelty Postcard ~ Can you see the Waterfall?
Features:  Hans to Fritz: "Oh, Fritz! Let us go fishing down by der Falls"
In the early 1900s, these wonderful familiar comic characters would be available in your Sunday newspaper as a give away.  The postcard asked the question "Can you see the Waterfall?"  so you would then "Heat up this post card with Hot flat-iron, gas jet or match (Don't burn it) " and this would then reveal the image of a not very happy der Captain drenched with water!  Postcards of this type are often irregularly trimmed on the edges and have some tanning/age-ing.
  Approx Size 5 5/8x3 1/4 " inches
Artist: Rudolph Dirks (1877 – 1968), German born, American Cartoonist.
