This listing is for an antique (1800s/19th century) sewing CHATELAINE. It measures approximately 11.5" from top to bottom, and contains 7 chains that are suspended from an ornate belt hook. I believe the composition metal is steel (it could be silver plating or sterling silver, but I don't see any markings). The items/tools suspended from each chain--located left to right--are as follows:

  1. Winding spherical tape measure (handle on side turns nicely; tape no longer comes out)
  2. Acorn-shaped pincushion/needle holder (there is purple velvet around the perimeter into which needles/pins can be stuck)
  3. Dance card (has metal covers on top and bottom; they slide open to reveal 3 separate cards inside made of faux ivory/celluloid/plastic; pencil writing is still on some surfaces)
  4. Telescoping pencil (inner pencil moves up and down freely; reveals a small unsharpened pencil nub when moved down fully)
  5. Vacant chain
  6. Screw top is attached to end of chain; rest of item is missing
  7. Bucket-shaped thimble (has purple velvet lining inside)

All items appear to still be in very good, used antique condition. There is some tarnishing on the steel, which should be easily removable.

All of my items come from a non-smoking environment. I'd be happy to combine shipping for multiple purchases. Thanks for looking!  :)
