One of a kind original $1 dollar bill money art piece from NYC Graffiti artist HEKTAD in 2014.HEKTAD

Hektad Hosted at Mark Miller Gallery at 92 Orchard, New York, NY 10002

If there's one thing Hektad and the Mark Miller Gallery have in common is that they've returned with a big bang. Mark Miller has reopened his Gallery for a special exhibit showcasing the work of the aspiring and inspiring graffiti artist.

Hektad's soothing and brilliant colors and patterns "brings a smile to people's faces who might otherwise be having a bad day," observed the artist. Miller noted, "looking at the graffiti art of Hektad is like finding joy and even catharsis- without having to pay a therapist."

Finding an activity with entertainment value and a therapeutic effect is something we can all use as we emerge and recuperate from a pandemic and lockdown.

If there is a "Bronx Bomber" in the visual arts, as are the Yankees in baseball, that attribution goes to Hektad, who has proudly represented his Bronx roots as far back as 1982 when his journey in the art world began on trains at the age of twelve. He ambitiously challenged himself by competing among veteran artists such as Mitch 77 and Chris 217. Bansky encouraged Hektad to persist in his craft and pursuit of excellence after a period of detours life handed the artist - including spending quality time with his children.

Hektad doesn't view such "detours" as lost time as long as you immerse yourself in the things you are passionate about for all the right reasons. Says the graffiti virtuoso,

"Don't think about the money. Do it for the love. Whatever you do -- music, art, cooking -- do it because you love it. People lose it when they think about the money. Think about your craft. Also make a name for yourself. "

Hektad is not coy about his skill and notoriety, claiming to belong on the same pantheon as Bansky.

Mark Miller certainly recognizes this as he welcomes Hektad into his gallery for an exhibit, where the artist's work will be available for sale.
