Very nice engraved stainless steel ashtray named to the USS Tacoma (PG-92), an Ashville-class gunboat in service with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. From 1970 until around 1973 the Tacoma alternated duty in Vietnam with tours of Micronesia and Guam. It is likely this commemorative ashtray was made or at least engraved in East Asia while on R&R. The 14 July 1969 date indicates date of commission. This item is in excellent condition, and does not appear to have ever been used for its intended purpose. It measures 116mm indiameter, and stands about 15mm in height around the edges.
