Good morning all. Repeating what I said here for the last couple of months, I am going to start reducing my collection/accumulation of planes, and will be listing one each Sunday morning, probably for the next couple of months. I have bench planes, block planes, specialty planes - Stanley, Millers Falls, and maybe some Record if I can bring myself to list those. Not everyone's thing, I realize, but I have a selection of Millers Falls block planes in nice condition from a lucky find years ago.

Since we can't have a No. 7 or a No. 1 or a No. 71 (see how I did that) every week, sometimes there have to be block planes. Today is a vintage Stanley SW, Made in USA, No. 65 low angle adjustable mouth 7" block plane with the 1-5/8" wide iron. Go to Patrick Leach's Blood and Gore (a must-bookmark website) to read about the 65. Spoiler Alert - Leach likes these.

Now whether he would like this one in this condition, I can't say. There is alot of staining, some minor pitting, plating loss, japanning loss, and a relatively short iron (not surprising considering that it is probably 80+ years old). ALSO NOTE that there might be about a  crack of about 5/64" on one corner of the mouth (13th picture - top left behind the iron). It is frankly difficult to tell, but I call it out, It does not seem to make any difference to performance.

OTOH, everything works properly, including the adjustable mouth (last 2 pictures). If you want to do low angle planing and your tool does not have to be pretty, give this one some consideration.

For this one especially, LOOK CAREFULLY AT THE PICTURES. If anyone has questions, or wants more pictures, message.
