Taking you back to Euro 96 – the last international football tournament on English soil – our Gazelle Vintage celebrates Gazza’s infamous ‘Dentist Chair’ celebration. It’s arguably one of the most iconic celebrations there’s been, and here’s the story behind it.

The England squad – and particularly Gazza – made the front pages of the press a few weeks earlier for their drunken antics in a Hong Kong bar during a pre-tournament get-together. The bar in question was renowned for its ‘Dentist Chair’ attraction, where bar staff would pour copious amounts of alcohol into the mouths of their willing challengers. It’s safe to say their actions were ridiculed by the nation’s press, but that wouldn’t stop Gascoine from getting one back at the tabloids.

After flicking the ball over a bemused Colin Hendry with his left foot, then burying a first-time volley on his right, Paul Gascoine put England 2-0 up against Scotland and produced one of the greatest celebrations ever straight after. Nodding back to his drunken debacle, he headed straight to the water bottles and lay on his back as teammates Redknapp, Shearer, McManaman and Sherringham squirted the contents of the bottle onto his face; the ‘Dentist Chair’ was immortalised.

So to honour the Gazza and celebrate one of our favourite Euros moments, we’ve painted the Gazelle Vintage’s leather uppers in the same white and blue hues as the England national team. Oh, and just like the last instalment to the series, this pair boasts a graphic print of the legendary moment on the footbed.
