This rough opal weighs 363.50 carats
and is a large super rare quality natural solid rough Rainbow Rock Opal Matrix Specimen from the Broken Leg Diggings, Lambina, South Australia.  It has a lovely play of green, blue and purple colour showing throughout and would be a great acquisition for the collector!

Measuring: 77.40mm x 46.90mm x 15.50mm in depth.

Lambina Opal Fields were first discovered in the early 1930's and are situated about 980km north-northwest of Adelaide, South Australia but are closed.

Today it is almost impossible to obtain this material!!!

Rainbow Rock Opal is natural precious opal which is embedded in a course conglomerate matrix of sandstone and quartz.


The sandstone surface is porous and can be difficult to get a good high gloss polish. Once shaped and sanded, it can also be coated with a polimar resin to simulate a high gloss polish finish.
