It is handthrown in earthenware with a white wax resist glaze.  On the base is the Rye Potteries Sussex impressed mark and the throwers mark D - for David Sharp.

It is an early piece from late 1940s to early 50s and is in excellent used condition for its age with no chips, cracks or scratches. 

It is a lovely Rye Pottery collectors piece and a very attractive piece of mid century modern pottery.
