Clear glass encloses a double pink poinsettia composed of ten smooth pointed
petals with a cane in the center of the flower. The whole design rests
on a blue and white jasper ground. The central cane is white and blue. Two emerald green leaves on a green
stem complete this lovely design.
This particular paperweight was
probably executed by Nicholas Lutz, who between 1869-88, was responsible
for a great number of Boston and Sandwich Glass Company flower
paperweights.
Jasper is a type of fine-grained ground composed of two or more
colors. The jasper used by Boston and Sandwich Glass Company was
generally much finer in texture than others.
The paperweight measures~ 2 7/8" wide x 1 7/8" tall.
In very good original condition with several light scratches and minor marks along the top.
