GEORGIAN GLASS / LEATHER-CLAD WHISKEY FLASK c1780 - 1830

Probably American (USA) or British.

Leather-clad, hand blown glass.

Seen similar described as American Revolution, c1780s, but cannot confirm. Similar are said to relate to American Civl War. Please use your own judgement.

On offer is a rare old spirit flask dating from the Georgian era. It is glass, protected by a heavy duty leather casing. That may indicate it was possibly for military or maritime use etc, rather than an average gentleman of the day.

Also, at 8" x 3.5" it is a bit big for an average pocket, but would be okay for a big coat, or simply in ones luggage. Later hip flasks were commonly made from pewter or silver and so better designed and slimmer to discretely fit into ones pocket.

The leather casing is a rich dark brown colour, and is hand stitched. There are 2 small round guide marks on one side, which ensures a more perfect fit for the leather top.

Height: 8 inches. Width: 3.5 inches.

Condition: Glass is all good. Leather top has stitching slightly parting, but quite trivial considering age.

Please see all images.

In summary, a delightful and rare antique flask in very good condition for its age. (circa 200 years!)
