"The 'Prentice Pillar', Roslin Chapel."
A genuine antique tinted sepia print taken from Lawson's "Scotland Delineated" which was first published in 1847 - 1854. The last photo is for information only, showing a title page from the volume.

The print picks out nicely some of the remarkable stone carving found in this building.

"Scotland Delineated", (issued with a text by John Parker Lawson)  is a particularly fine record of Scotland in the mid-19th century, the work using art by some notable artists of the time, including William Leighton Leitch (who did the artwork for this print) and David Roberts.
