Large old Ifugao Bulul guardian figure from the Northern Philippines. This figure sits on an hourglass shaped pedestal. Measures 25 1/4" high x 9" wide and is carved from a single piece of wood that is semi-lightweight. Weight is 7 pounds 14 ounces. The arms are positioned differently with one hand to head and the other is holding a small bowl. Overall dark blackened patina with some natural wood color showing through. Dry splits in base portion that run up one side and tiny worm holes throughout base. This is fresh from the estate of a man who worked in a foreign consulate and traveled the world in the 1970s collecting ethnographic art and artifacts. Collected approx. 40+ years ago and is most likely older. Offered with no reserve.
