This is Nice example of a totally original WWI.WWII  German Transitional M16 Helmet. The stamped, sheet steel construction, helmet retains about 85% of its original paint. The helmet has both the dome headed chinstrap retaining rivets, both of the extended ventilation side lugs and all three of the flat-headed liner retaining rivets. Shell is marked "ET64(?)" (it is hard to read), indicating manufacturer   Eisenhuettenwerke Thale A.G., Thale /Harz size 64 (originally intended to accommodate head sizes of 56cm to 59cm or US 7 1/4 to US 7 3/8).

The liner is a genuine correct WWII German issue with 8 finger leather construction.  The liner split pins are original and are matched to the exterior paint of the helmet. Right side of the bottom rim is slightly bent. Other than that it is very nice helmet and could be great addition to any collection.

Model 1916 helmets were used in the Pre-War years of the Wehrmacht in the build up to WW2.
