1940s Royal Stetson De Luxe fur felt western fedora. Light gray in color with contrasting light bronze thin grosgrain ribbon/bow and a thin grosgrain edge binding.
The hat is marked as a size 7 US (7-5/8" x 6-3/8" interior from inside of sweatband reed).
The hat has a 2-3/4" brim (measured on the underside of the brim from the sweatband reed to the brim edge). The brim has a 3/8" grosgrain brim binding. The crown is 5" open with a 3/8" grosgrain ribbon and bow.
The felt has no major staining or visible moth nips, but does have some light soiling, an ink mark and a possible scuff under the brim. The ribbon and binding are free of stains, but have a couple of loose threads. The leather sweatband is in good shape, supple, but the debossings are starting to loose their shine and there are a couple of dark spots. Also, it does have a short run where it is unstitched. The liner is nice and shows very little staining or foxing.
The felt has a very nice hand and shapes easily.
I'm basing the date estimate on the model, fonts used, logo style, lack of plastic liner tip, style/color of factory size tag and the color, width and construction of the sweatband.
