DESCRIPTION: This is a charming hand painted bisque Santa Clause figurine. Santa has set sail to deliver toys to good boys and girls. A doll and a Teddy Bear are along for the ride. The boat is a colorful yellow and Santa's coat is a nicer red than seen above. The partial mark Japan, is on the bottom. We studied his face with a loupe, and there are fine lines marking it, possibly as direction for the artist to paint his face. His left eye is very faint, with little black left. With the naked eye, he looks okay. He is in very good condition with no cracks or chips. The sailboat is 2 1/2 inches long, 2 1/4 inches tall and 1 inch at its widest. We estimate this to be from the early 1920s or so. What a fun figure of Santa setting sail!
