These are made including the printed-on frame, perfect for your scale. There are several different billboards for sale. The part inside the frame is 1 and 1/2 inch high and about twice as wide, smaller if you want N or Z scale. The frame is printed on so if you already have a billboard you like, just cut it off and use as an insert for yours. Billboards based on actual billboards of the classic railroad era. Instructions are included if you want to build your own billboard roadside sign.

The Aerotrain was made by GM and leased or sold to New York Central, Pennsylvania RR, Union Pacific, Santa Fe ATSF, and Rock Island. Let me know if you want one of those heralds instead on the billboard where the GM logo is when you purchase this demonstrator unit train billboard. The two-axle coaches used GM bus bodies with the rubber tires replaced by train wheel sets to save weight, giving a rather rough ride. The Pennsylvania Aerotrain started in 1956 February between Pittsburgh and New York and ran until June 1957. NY Central leased Aerotrain #2 in 1956 Cleveland to Chicago. In March it ran on ATSF between Los Angeles and San Diego, but was under-powered for hills with its single diesel motor and needed a helper engine on San Diego's steep Sorrento Grade north of San Diego. In December, Union Pacific tried it out between Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Both Aerotrains eventually ended up in commuter service on the Rock Island Line in Chicago and were retired a decade later in 1966. They are on display in St. Louis (MO) and Green Bay (WI). A replica of it has been in use in a Portland (OR) zoo since 1958 giving train rides as the Washington Park & Zoo Railway; and for 2 years in Disney's Tomorrowland (red & chrome) and Fantasyland (blue & chrome) 1957-59. Disney's 30-inch gauge "Santa Fe & Disneyland" Aerotrains were scrapped to make room for the Matterhorn and Submarines rides as they were too small to operate on Disneyland's larger 36-inch steam railroad tracks

Note: shipping is about the same for US, Canada and world-wide.

If you want other sets, ask for combined shipping so I can put them on a single ebay invoice to wave shipping on the other sets
