GEY 587Y has undergone an extensive nut and bolt restoration.
The vehicle has been meticulously restored by its current owner 450 miles ago to what can
only be described as museum standards!
The vehicle retains all of its original panels, original chassis and bulkhead (Galvanized), original door frames
(Galvanized), fully reconditioned 5 bearing 2 ¼ diesel engine, new Exmoor interior, new Exmoor canvas hood and the original jack and handle finish the look.
CHASSIS & BODYWORK
The body and paint finish on this Series III Land Rover is immaculate, freshly
painted with PPG Delfleet commercial Marine Blue paint and contrasting factory
correct original Limestone white wheels adjourned with new off-roading tires.
The bulkhead has been sand blasted, footwells replaced and fully galvanized prior to re seam sealing and painting.
The original chassis has been sand blasted, inspected, new outriggers and rear ¼
professionally welded prior to be galvanized. The chassis was then degreased, etched, primed,
undercoated and top coat applied using International Marine grade 2pk paint system.
New leaf springs, shock absorbers, bushes, drop
plates, check straps, refurbished steering box and column ensures there’s no rattling
or rolling in this Landy!
INTERIOR TRIM
Immaculate! ‘’It even smells new’’ The dash is unmarked, unmolested with no
cracks or sun damage, new Exmoor seats along with new seatbelts and seatbelt bar hold you safely in place.
The original door bottoms have been blasted
repaired and galvanized, accompanied by new galvanized door tops, glass and skins. New locks,
handles, hinges and mirrors complete the as new finish.
The load area is all new! replacement aluminum floor and wheel arches adorned
with an authentic ribbed rear load mat. The underside or the tub and inner front wings have been protected with stone chip resistant coating prior to painting.
THE ENGINE BAY
You could eat your lunch off it! the cleanest engine bay you will ever come
across on a Series 3 Landrover.
Freshly galvanized factory fitted inner mud
shields frame this beautiful fully refurbished 5 bearing 19J diesel engine complete with new
pistons, new bearings, fully reconditioned cylinder head and complete new
exhaust system. The original copper radiator has been refurbished along with
new hoses and water pump keeping everything nice and cool.
The 4-speed gearbox with 3&4th
synchro has been fully rebuilt using OEM bearings and seals coupled to a pair of fully
refurbished axles hosting a set of Fairey freewheeling hubs.
The fuel system fully refurbished by
the renowned Bob Beck fitted with new OEM fuel delivery hoses,
injector pipes and lift pump keeps the heart of the vehicle alive.
A new high powered commercial battery and new alternator
keep the new Auto Sparks engine and chassis electrical loom powered. A pair of bright new
halogen head lights light up the way without the risk of old melted cables.
A new master brake servo provides ample stopping
power with new brake drums, cylinders and brake lines. (I'm afraid ABS was not a factory option back then)
This little Landy is better than when it left the Solihull factory!
SUMMARY
No expense spared Land Rover restoration, the attention to detail is remarkable
you would hard push to find a better example, if your looking for a unique investment or a fabulous statement piece to enjoy this summer this is the Series 3 to buy.
