A rare 9 carat gold prize medal for the Swindon & North Wilts Victoria Hospital.The medal features the goddess Hygeia holding a Rod of Asclepius in one hand and holding aloft a lamp of learning in the other.In the background the Industries of Swindon are surrounded by the rays of the sun! The hospital title appears on a band around the edge.
The medal appears to have originally been a badge but has undergone an alteration to convert it to being a medal with a maroon silk ribbon.This, in turn,is suspended from a gold pin back bar brooch.In very good condition with minimal wear.It is marked for N Coleman SRN 1933 with TF and 9ct.The front of the suspension bar is also engraved for N Coleman.Medal size 28mm,Drop 69mm
