Some of the pastel sticks are clearly broken, so look carefully at the pictures. Most are unbroken. I would say that anything that looks to be unbroken is unbroken, but since the surest way to break the sticks is by me handling them, I am not going to do that. This is a nice set overall.

The box is okay, not special. All of the corners are intact, and it did its job protecting the pastels. There is some petrified rubber band, and some spots where the tape took off the box covering, as you can see in the pictures.
