1 10.5cm tall. Carved and brightly painted wood , good condition. Top unscrews to reveal a small removable bobbin for winding thread round. Could fit a couple of needles to or remove bobbin and use just for needles.
2 9 cm tall and similar in style to above. . Carved and painted wood, reads Bulgarian at bottom so probably a tourist piece. good condition. Top unscrews to use for needles.
3. 7.5 cm tall and rotund in shape. Made of wood with two bands of bright colour . Bottom unscrews to reveal small nub for winding thread. There is a wooden thimble inside top but it seems to be stuck. Space for small needles or pins. Has some damage in the form of chip/scrape to wooden nobble on top and red apint layer below it. Base has label 6 1/2 d so pre -decimalisation.
4) 5 cm tall, all dark wood which as been turned to produce ridges. No damage but some darker marks on wood. Unscrews for small needles/pins to be put in
5) 7 cm tall. made of composition or ivorene I think. Slender cylinder with decorative top and bottom. Whatever it is made of seems to have some old cracks running through it. Unscrews to be a tiny holder for a few very fine needles.
This is a very attractive little lot for those who like of sewing collectibles.
