Hand carved Oaxaca ritual mask of Armadillo and fur. The Huave Indians in the Tehuantepec region of Oaxaca wear these masks during Carnival dances to scare away spirits so spring will come sooner. It ia adorned with armadillo skin, and fur from goats and/or wild boar. 12" tall x 6.25" wide with no significant issues. From the first half of the 20th century.
