Additionally, you should purchase an original power supply or a replacement available online in retro equipment stores for connection to the US (110V). Power supplies in the UK require 220V. 

The 110V/220V laptop power supply can be modified by using the original plug or by replacing the transformer in the enclosure or using it externally. 

Connection adapters that only change the plug DO NOT WORK.
