Description

Since its release in 1960, the Hummingbird has gained popularity as Gibson's signature acoustic guitar, along with the J-45. It is a popular model with the most Gibson-like look, with a pickguard with a hummingbird on it that makes a strong impression! This time in stock is an individual made in 1976. Excellent playability due to the high string height, and it is a very beautiful vintage item with almost no noticeable scratches!

Spruce top, mahogany side and back, maple 3-piece neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, double X bracing, actual 43.6mm nut, 25.5 inch scale 16 inch square shoulder. The PG hummingbird design is still in very good condition, and the cherry/sunburst color is also in good condition, making it a beautiful piece to look at!

The sound is well-balanced from high to low, and has a powerful sound with a sense of volume! Generally, many people have the perception that Gibsons from the 70's don't produce sound, but that's definitely not the case. The double-X bracing structure makes the lows a little tighter and makes the typical Gibson violent feel a little more subdued, so it tends to be avoided by Gibson fans, but the sound balance is very good and the overall cohesiveness is good. In terms of volume, I think it's on par with Gibson from the 60's. Compared to the strong sound of Gibsons from the 60's, it may feel like a slightly superior sound, but on the contrary, it can be said to be an almighty sound that can be adapted to a variety of genres. I'm sure the Hummingbird that Chavo used in the past and the one that Keith played when he was young were the 70's Hummingbirds, but once you try them out, you'll find they're surprisingly easy to use! If you strum it with a flat pick, you'll get a sound that has a certain amount of cohesiveness, but also has a moderately violent and rough-hewn feel typical of Gibson, and even if you play it with your fingers, it's responsive and has a good balance of suspension from high to low. You can get a sound with a teen vibe, so I think it's a surprisingly versatile sound that's suitable for all genres!

The condition of the instrument is that there are some small scratches here and there, but overall it is in very good condition considering its age! There are some picking scratches and some spotting scratches on the body and top, but I don't think there are any noticeable scratches. The bridge plate inside the body has been reinforced with a thin maple plate, probably because the pin holes have widened due to years of use. There are some slight scratches on the SIDE & BACK, but there are no flashy scratches and it remains in very good condition. There are no scratches from the neck to the head and it is in very good condition. When you stroke the back of the neck with your finger, you can feel a slight difference in the three-piece structure, but this is something that can't be helped due to the structure. There is no additional strap pin, and the end pin remains original. Oh, the bridge pin has been replaced with one from Avalon Dot, but since the original was made of wood, I think this one is actually better in terms of sound.

The neck is in good condition and is generally straight, and the current string height is 2.5mm on the 6th string and 1.8mm on the 1st string above the 12th fret, making it very easy to play. There is almost no room left in the saddle, but I think the playability is excellent for a 70's Gibson even now. The frets have been reduced quite a bit, mainly on the low fret, but even at the point where they have been reduced the most, about 60% of the original height remains, so you won't have to worry about refrets for a while yet.

I think there are many people who shy away from playing a 70's Gibson even before playing it, but once you play it, you'll be amazed by the sound!
