The French Lieutenant’s Woman by John Fowles. 1st edition

Published by Cape 1969

The book is sound with brown boards & spine showing few immediately obvious marks. The board edges & corners show some limited rubbing & there are no obvious knocks or bumps. There is some creasing at the spine ends.  The gilt spine lettering & publisher’s logo are bright. Please see the attached scans.

Internally, the pictorial endpapers are clean & unmarked is the text block. The top edge to the pages is finished in brown though some marks or similar are apparent: the other page edges are lightly toned with the foremost edge bearing a few marks. There is a signature at the head of the half title page.

The dust wrapper, not price clipped at 35s, is complete though with some rubbing to the spine & fold ends & the spine folds have also been lightly rubbed along their length. A couple of creases close to the top spine fold may be made & slighter crease exists on the spine. No marks were noted except to some parts of the outer edge of the front flap & some spotting may be seen on the rear flap. The wrapper is in a removable plastic sleeve. Please see the attached scans.

A very presentable copy of this acclaimed novel from an accomplished author. Also made into a successful film.

Whilst considerable attention is devoted to providing an accurate description, buyers should bear in mind the book’s age & the commensurate degree of wear & tear sustained. Consequently, some very minor faults, not otherwise detailed, are to be expected.
