this is a recent estate find .

An original hand signed Laszlo Wellinger portrait photograph of the famous German actor of the stage and screen, ALBERT BASSERMANN. Bassermann is considered one of the best actors of his generation and was the bearer of the illustrious Iffland Ring for decades.

In America he is probably best known for his role as Van Meer in Alfred Hitchcock's "Foreign Correspondent".

judging from the image and signature , I'm sure it is from the mid to late 1930s. I found this with another signed Willinger print of Franz Lehar and one of Ernst Lubitsch. Lubitsch and Lehar worked on "The Merry Widow" in 1934. So it is probably from that time.

The format is quite large . approximately 12.75" by 16.5"

The condition is pretty good although there are holes in each corner. when professionally cleaned and mounted and framed, it will be striking. A one of a kind unique image signed by its creator.

please watch my other listings for similar signed Willinger prints.
