This wonderful Eximious, Limoges box commemorates the 50th anniversary of the D-Day landing of ships on the beaches of Normandy, on June 6, 1944, which was the "beginning  of the end of war in Europe."  More than 5,000 ships and landing craft, with 156,000 Allied troops, and 11,000 aircraft, providing air cover and support, were involved in the invasion.  The landing is depicted on top, and a blue banner with "1944", "1994", and ammunition is on the side.  An anchor with rope is the clasp, and a scene of planes flying over the beach is inside.  It has a diameter of 1.8" with a height of 1".  On the bottom is "Peint Main - Limoges France - Eximious."  PLEASE CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS FOR MORE LIMOGES BOXES - I'LL BE  LISTING  ADDITIONAL ONES LATER IN THE WEEK.  PLEASE CHECK BACK OFTEN.
