"When Kane was offered the chance to battle his nemesis, Triple H, for the World Heavyweight Championship, he could hardly refuse. There was just one catch - if defeated, Kane would have to unmask in front of a worldwide television audience. Although for 6 years his mask had shielded the burns he suffered as a child, the "Big Red Monster's" thirst for vengeance was so strong that he accepted the proposal. Kane and Triple H faced off on the June 23, 2003 edition of Raw at the fabled Madison Square Garden. Kane never looked more dominant, but after Triple H's "Evolution" teammates interfered, "The Game" hit Kane with a Pedigree and pinned him for the victory. After a few moments of hesitation, Kane warily unmasked in front of an eager crowd. But as soon as the disguise was removed, the enraged monster turned on his tag team partner, Rob Van Dam, and chokeslammed him to the canvas. A new, enraged Kane had surfaced - one that would terrify the WWE Universe for years to come.
