Home of the Gay was written by Victor J. Banis using the (oft used) pen name of Don Holliday. Greenleaf Classics of San Diego published in May of 1968 with the stock number AB429 (the AB standing for "adult book" as if they published any other kind).

Victor J. Banis was born on May 25, 1937 and he passed away in 2019. He was the greatest name in gay pulps. He practically invented the genre. If you collect gay pulps, his memoir (Spine Intact, Some Creases) is a must-read. Wikipedia has a good article on Victor. He is most famous for his Man From C.A.M.P. series, a takeoff on The Man from U.N.C.L.E.

The cover art is by Ed Smith and it's a bit dreary for my taste, so if some moron had to screw up a book cover with masking tape, at least they didn't pick one of Victor's more jazzy-looking covers. I do like the hairy legs of the guy who's on his knees, and the servant in the background doesn't look happy at all. He probably wishes he was the one on his knees in front of the tall blond guy. This cover is reproduced in color on page 115 of The Golden Age of Gay Fiction edited by Drewey Gunn.

This book is NOT SIGNED.

To the person who wins this auction, I will send a copy of Victor's bibliography of every book & article he ever wrote. He sent it to me & it's much more complete than anything you'll find anywhere else. It used to be on his website (which was great, but is now sadly defunct) but what he sent me was more updated.

I will combine shipping to reduce the cost. Let me know if you are bidding on more than one book. I store them in clear plastic sleeves, and that's how they are shipped.

Feel free to ask questions.

It will be shipped via Media Mail from Hawaii, which is sometimes quick but it can take between 6 to 8 weeks.
