This auction is for 10 4x6 photos taken of Eric Clapton by the seller at the San Diego Arena in the 1970s. Pictures sent will be clearer than these here. These are low resolutions scans intended to just give an idea. The first 3 color ones are from the start of his show on 8/15/75 when he was playing "Layla."  Many people on the floor left their seats to rush the stage and caused a small riot.  Security was unable to control things and the show stopped. Clapton left the stage but came back out a few minutes later with his white coat and hat off.  Carlos Santana opened this show and pictures 3,4 & 5 show Clapton jamming with Santana for the encore of this concert.  The last 3 color ones of Clapton in the cowboy hat are from 11/20/76.  These pictures are copyrighted and intended for personal use only; no reproduction of any kind, including online posting.

I'm a published writer who has co-written two rock music books.  Clapton's 1975 show was a really good one and I wrote about it in my book on Led Zeppelin and the 60s-70s music scene,Whole Lotta Led: Our Flight with Led Zeppelin. This book has many Zeppelin tour stories by myself and others.  There are also my accounts  of photographing various other '70s concerts.  There are also 2 photo sections that have many unseen Zeppelin pictures, onstage and offstage.

These pictures document moments that will never happen again of an artist regarded as one of the best guitarists of the 1960s!  If you like vintage pictures that are very close up then don't miss this auction!
