These are not your grandmother's scans. Every page has been hand-corrected to remove as many blemishes as possible. Color correction with a known color standard sheet was used to get the colors as close to the original as possible. Special care was taken with the half-tone images to make sure all the depth and range of the originals is preserved. Manuals are printed on 24 lb paper and comb-bound with clear plastic front cover and black plastic back sheet. Please note that this is NOT identical to the original binding, so this is in no way a duplicate of the original manual. It is a full-color manual with a high-quality scanned reproduction of each and every page of the original.

"Pilot Training Manual for the Flying Fortress B-17", Published for Headquarters, AAF, Office of Assistant Chief of Air Staff, Training, October 1944, 210 pages. Includes 30-page instructor's manual as well. From the forword: "This manual is the text for your training as a B-17 pilot and airplane commander". The commander of the aircraft has to be familiar with every crew position and function. This manual describes not only the operation and flight characteristics of the airplane, but the duties of the commander and a description of each crew function and station. This is a FULL-COLOR manual in cartoon style. It is not as technical as the T.O. manuals, but it deals with other more ethereal concerns, such as the duties of each crewmember, especially in case of emergency.
