Description

The HD-28 was introduced in 1976 as a variation model of the D-28.

The original pre-war 1930s-style D-28 has a herringbone style, and the bracing is scalloped to give it a more powerful sound.

Martin guitars have been using adjustable truss rods since 1985.

This HD-28 was made in 1984, so it has the same construction as the 1970s HD-28, a square rod neck with a square iron core inside the neck.

The only difference is that in the 70's the pegs were made by Grover and in the 80's they were changed to Schaller pegs.

Another characteristic of the 1970s is that the 3rd and 4th back braces have a short, semi-cylindrical shape.

The pickguard and neck heel cap have been replaced.

The nut and saddle are original Micarta.

After arriving at our store, the neck has been adjusted and set up for good playability at our affiliated workshop.

The string height above the 12th fret is 6th string: 2.4mm, 1st string: 1.8mm.

There is plenty of fret left, and there is plenty of room for the saddle.

I don't think there is any need for maintenance for the time being. Vintage item that is practical and can be used for a long time.

It's been 40 years since it was new, so the top and binding have faded in color and have a nice atmosphere.

There are a few superficial scratches and pot scratches due to normal use, but there are no noticeable scratches or major damage.

There is a round dent on the back of the 1st fret of the neck from years of wearing a capo.

The end pin has been enlarged to the size of an end jack, and an oversized ebony pin is currently inserted. I think it will be convenient for installing the pickup later.

Even compared to the D-28 of the same generation, it clearly has a deep overtone feel in the bass, and it sounds quite powerful with strong strokes.

The treble strings also have a core and are characterized by a powerful tone. Of course, if you use a gentle touch with your fingers and play with your fingernails, you will get a good response, so I think you can play with a sense of intonation depending on the touch of the player.

Considering it is a vintage item from 40 years ago, it is in very good condition.

Comes with original hard case.
