Acapulco Mexico 1754 city plan coastal survey w/ key scarce miniature map

Plan du Port D'Acapulco Sur la Cote du Mexique dans la Mer du Sud.

(Old Maps, 18th Century Maps, North America, Mexico, Acapulco, Coastal Survey, Fortification, City Plan, Star Fort).

Issued 1754, Paris.

Charming and scarce little mid-19th century engraved map.

Key below top left title box identifies 14 distinct features within the plan, sounding depths shown within the harbors. Rhumb lines impart nautical feel, north is oriented to the left. Appears to be an early French copy of an English map, as at this time typical French created maps rarely used London for Longitude.

Nice looking example, various original fold-lines, some offsetting, still displaying a pleasing age patina, narrow right blank margin, any minor age flaws easy to overlook or forgive.

Original fold lines as issued.

Sheet measures c. 8 1/8" H x 6 7/8" W.

Engraved area measures c. 7 1/2" H x 5 7/8" W.
