Large original WW1 Photograph album . Measures 37cm by 33cm and is 4cm thick and weighty.

Album belonged to C.M.Lewin (seen in at least one of the photos) who was Engineer in charge of the construction of the huge National Aircraft Factory no4 at Monks Abbey Lincoln . The 100 acre Clayton & Shuttleworth site , was East of Lincoln city centre.

The album contains 85 large original photographs . Each photo measures circa 29cm by 25cm . Album is complete / full , nothing has been removed . The album and photos are now over 100 years old, but are in very  good condition. Photos slot into the album pages , so can be very easily removed .

Nearly all the photos are dated ..taken in 1917 & 1918 .

The photos cover the entire construction from empty fields , laying foundations,, through to full completion and the building of Handley Page bombers . Note , all the photos which feature the aircraft are shown in the listing images .

In a few photos you will see some German POW’s helping with the construction of the site . They appear happy in their work .

This is a  rare find and should appeal to RAF enthusiasts or perhaps a local historian in Lincoln . There is a book or potentially a short TV documentary to be made around this album.

Over the past 30 years, I have handled well over a thousand original photograph albums. This one is right up there with the very best.

The photos are sharp and have great detail . My listing images are low resolution and there is some light reflection in the listing images .

I have separately listed 2 photos which came with the album. The same images are also within the album. The ones separately listed are signed by C. M. Lewin. Feel free to take a look if interested.
