HEISEY & CO. "WAVERLY" # 1519, 6 1/2 INCH SQUARE COVERED HORSE HEAD FINIAL HANDLED BUTTER DISH IN PERFECT CONDITION. This pattern was made from the early 1940s until 1957 when Heisey & Co. went out of business, making it between 65 to 82 years old. The Butter Dish is in perfect condition, with not even any scratches on its bottom, as would be expected from a Butter Dish this old. Its bottom under-plate is also factory ground and fire-polished indicating a very good crystal glass as Heisey was noted for, as can be seen in the photographs. It also has the Heisey famous Horse-Head Finial Knob on top, which was a Heisey favorite design. The Butter Dish is not marked with the usual "H inside a Diamond" trademark of Heisey because it is identified only by its unusual sea-foam shaped edges and wavy swirls, a well documented and uniquely Heisey design. This crystal Butter Dish comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously designed pattern, especially the Horse-Head Finial Top Knob in the photographs. The Butter Dish under-plate measures 6 1/2 inches wide (8 Inches from Handle to Handle) and stands about 4 inches high with its cover on. It is truly beautiful and elegant, and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. As I have already mentioned, it was pre-owned, but has absolutely NO scratches, not even on its bottom as would be expected to be found in a Butter Dish this old, and as seen in the photographs. I found it sitting on a top shelf inside a closed dining room cabinet, where it seemed to have sat there for many years and was never used. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere. It comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling.
