Description

Buddy Holly is a legendary artist who led a band called “The Crickets” to the top of the U.S. charts in 1956, but died in a plane crash in 1959 at the young age of 22. In 1986, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, and James Brown, the first 10 inductees.

J-45 BUDDY HOLLY is a limited edition, produced in 1995 in a limited run of 250. The serial number 90/250 is printed on the inner orange label.

There are autographs of the Gibson General Manager and Maria Elena Holly (widow) from 1995 on the certificate paper. We think this is a nice certificate for Buddy fans.

The round shoulder style body is based on the J-45 of the prewar banner logo period, with a spruce top and mahogany side backs. Rosewood fingerboard and rosewood rectangular bridge.

Traditional logo and banner logo in white butterfly shell on the head top, name engraved on the truss rod cover, shield back pegs with 3 to 3 butterbean knobs, smooth operation.

Since it is almost 30 years old from new, there are numerous weather checks on the paint surface on the body top due to age, and the binding is color faded. The binding has also been color-faded. The vintage look is austere, as it has been aged naturally. There are also a few scratches and dings from use. There is a slight peeling of the clear coat in front of the bridge, but this is not a problem for practical use. There is also a pea-sized scratch on the back of the bridge. There is a strap pin on the neck heel cap and a buckle scratch on the back of the body. The clear coat is peeling along the back stripe, but there is no need for repair. Nut width: 43 mm (actual measurement), not so thick but soft V-shape neck. The string height is 2.6mm for the 6th string and 1.9mm for the 1st string at the 12th fret. There is plenty of room to tighten the saddle and truss rod.

There is a slight wear on the low position of the fingerboard, but it does not impair the playability. The fret board has enough height, so it can be used maintenance free for the time being.

The top bracing has been scalloped, and the bass is very loud and boxy. When playing strokes with a flat pick, the mahogany body has a light and crisp treble and a firm bass sound with a lot of volume. The fingerpicking response is also good, making it a model that can be used all-around regardless of playing style.

The end pins have been widened to the size of an end jack and oversized ebony pins have been inserted. It will be useful for later pickup installation.

This is a limited edition of 250 pieces and signature model from 30 years ago, so it is rare to find one for sale on the market.

It comes with the original hard case with brown exterior and pink inner cover with the name on it as well, and the certificate paper.

Recommended for those who are looking for one.
