I would hazard a guess that he is supposed to be a Scottie dog as he has a check pattern.

I think that he may have been manufactured for another reason other than as an ornament as he has a slit in his mouth area.  His head has also been glued on in the past, as far as I can tell and it would seem that it was removable when he was made.

He is very cute and kitsch for what ever reason he was made.

He measures approximately 12 cm high.

He has no chips or cracks.

I would guess that he is Italian or German made and not long after the 2nd World war as he just marked "foreign" on the base.

His nose and collar were painted on after the glazing process and some of this has worn off over the years.

Please look at the photographs very carefully as these are an important part of the description.
