THIS ALL SOUNDS GREAT, SO WHAT'S WRONG?
It's not a new car, indeed, it's done SLIGHTLY higher than average mileage, but it's nothing to a car like this, trips to Scotland and France in any weather and any conditions, through rain and snow (drive and wave as you pass stranded normally smug BMW drivers), loaded to the gunnels, it's been the ultimate luxury car.
The nitty gritty list -
1). The nearside front suspension strut knocks and has done for about three years. It’s really annoying, but we’ve done so little mileage, we never bothered to fix it. They are available second hand on ebay for around £300.
2). The rear sports diff fault light came on one day around five years ago. The local garage checked it for oil and damage, but said it was fine to drive and it didn’t seem to make any difference to the driving so we left it. Recently the local garage replaced both of the sensors in the diff that came up on the diagnostic checks as faulty, but he doesn’t have the equipment to make the light go out. So leave it, or a visit to a main dealer will be required.
3). We noticed when it was cold it didn’t warm up properly and the local garage says it needs a new thermostat. Cost is around £70.00
4). The memory seat button on the drivers side stopped working and the local garage found the switch was sticky. They sprayed it with contact spray and it worked fine for another four months, but it’s stopped again. Lots on ebay for about £25.00
Anything else it ever wanted got fixed, but these items never changed, and they're the same now. That's how it stayed.
We live down small country lanes so the bodywork/paint has a number of stone chips and low scrapes caused by things that stick out from hedges, but nothing else major and it all seems remarkably straight and original.
The aluminium bodywork doesn't really rust, but there are a couple of bubbles in the paint.
Remember, cars always look better in photos on ebay, it's not new, but it is tidy.
Other than mentioned above, the engine and all major components like engine and gearbox seem to work perfectly and it has had anything else it ever needed; new brakes and servicing as required.
Other than the items listed above, we know of no other faults, however, we’re not mechanics, and no warranty is inferred or given.
We've tried to be as honest as possible about it's faults, and there are few. The car is built like a tank.
