Up for auction is A VINTAGE PADEN CITY GLADES # 215 SPRING ORCHARD TALL STEMMED COMPORT IN MINT PERFECT CONDITION. This crystal tall stemmed and footed glass comport comes from a bye-gone era when American manufacturing was an "art", as can be seen from the gorgeously designed acid etching "Spring Orchard" Pattern, as seen in the photographs. Although the glass is not marked in any way, this is absolutely a Paden City Glass Co. product because this "Glades" Pattern # 215 was one of the most the famous Paden City Glass Co. made with its very deep acid etching called Spring Orchard. This is so because there are so many items are available today, and were manufactured from the 1930s to the 1950s, making them somewhere between 70 and 90 years old. This comport also shows the strong influence the "Art Deco" movement had in the 1930s-1940s because of the vertical ribbed pattern. I only wish I had more, because it is just so gorgeous, with the song birds and leaves and stems and flowers all over the entire crystal bowl, as seen in the photographs. When used on a set dining room table for entertainment, this piece must have looked really graceful on the table. It measures 6 1/4 Inches tall, and has a top round diameter opening of 7 inches wide, and sits on a 3 1/2 inch round serated diameter base, as can be seen in the photographs. It is absolutely beautiful, and was purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. Although it was pre-owned, the crystal etched glass comport is in absolutely perfect condition. Although the 2 silver bands look fabulous for their age, when held up to the light one can see a lot of the silver missing which is commensurate with its age. I found it sitting on a shelf inside a closed dining room cabinet where it probably sat for many years. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. Except for the worn silver bands (which actually might be platinum but I don't really know), I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, stains, cloudiness, or repairs anywhere on the comport. In fact, there are not even any scratches on their bottoms, where scratches would be expected to be found commensurate with its age. This comes from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling. Signature Shipping with Insurance by USPS Priority Mail costs $18.85. Payment is expected within 3 days, after which I will immediately ship out the comport out as soon as payment is verified by eBay. Buyer may be subject to sales tax which is collected by eBay, and not given to me at all. If payment is not received within 5 days, the comport will be relisted. Returns will be arranged only if I have shipped the wrong item, or if I have misrepresented the item or its condition. If you need more pictures or further details, please feel free to contact me.
