This is a fantastic lens for anybody having a Nikon camera. Optically it is probably one of the best lenses Nikon has ever manufactured.
You may judge the optical quality of this particular lens (S/N 201763) by examining the two photos included in this listing. The photo was taken with a Nikon D850, ISO800, 1/800, f/5.6 at a distance of 29.8 meters (97 feet) using manual focus. The full frame is shown and then a crop of it to see the kind of detail it resolves.
Unfortunately, the AF motor stopped working recently, so the lens only works in manual mode at the moment. The VR system works perfectly. I recommend contacting Nikon UK to get an estimate for the replacement of the AF-S motor before placing a bid for this item. I estimate this to be less than £ 1,000. The lens is priced in such a way that even if the repair cost is included it is still a bargain compared to others listed in e-bay. Please note that the lens works perfectly well in manual (M) mode as is.
