For your consideration is an antique biscuit/cookie jar.  The round white slightly ribbed piece is delicately decorated with hand painted multicolor vining florals and gold leaf accents on a pinkish background.  It has a scalloped gilded rim.    It stands about 8 inches tall to the top of a twig like gilded finial.   The opening measures about 4 inches in diameter.   The piece has a fading L&S Limoges France mark in blue and a green Laviolette mark.  According to Gaston, Lewis Straus & Sons exported porcelain from Austria and Limoges to NYC from 1890's to the mid 1920's.    The 2 marks date this piece to the latest 1905.   Gaston lists a biscuit jar with the same marks at $400-$500.   Our antique biscuit/cookie jar is free of cracks, nicks, or repairs, but there is a small chip on one of the gilded scallops.   The piece is priced accordingly. The net weight is 32 ounces.
