1900s LUG (Label Under GLASS) LeVARN'S GOLDEN Wash SHAMPOO Barber BOTTLE - Nice

Here is a very nice looking early 1900s label under glass shampoo bottle.

This would have been for use in a barber shop and would date from 1890's to the early 1900's.

The bottle has a unique molded shape kind of reminds me of a lighthouse - a very cool looking design which is often seen in late 19th century barber type hair tonic bottles.

The front of the bottle is recessed for the curved "cover glass" over the inserted printed advertising label - hence the name "Label Under Glass" or LUG type.

It has very nice graphics on It that features a gold edged label that says LeVARN'S GOLDEN WASH SHAMPOO MANUFACTURED BY THE METTOWEE TOILET SPECIALTY CO. GRANVILLE, NEW YORK.

It measures about 7-3/4 inches tall, about 2-3/4 inches around the bottom of the label panel tapering up to about 2-1/4 inches around the shoulder.

Very decent overall condition, some light staining to label but 100% complete and totally readable, one tight vertical hairline in glass overlay but still well attached to bottle panel, these cracks are really pretty typical from temperature expansion/contraction over the years so no real big deal.

Glass bottle has no damage and is starting to turn a very nice shade of lavender.

A rare and original Victorian era Barber bottle in outstanding, original condition - this would be a fantastic addition to any label under glass collection - check it out !!!
