Antique MERIDEN BRITANNIA Silverplate COVERED BUTTER DISH 14" Tall Bird Design

This ebay listing is for a unique antique silverplate covered butter dish that comes as you see pictured in the listing and noted above. This is marked MERIDEN BRITANNIA, B COMPANY, 4965 and a few other items on the bottom. There was a newspaper article inside this that says these were made in the US about 1870 to 1915's era. This one looks to be from the later part of 19th Century. The size is 14" tall and the lid lifts up on the 2 posts. The lid is embossed with a bird design and the lower section features faces on the 4 feet. Also included is an antique butter knife as well that sits in the front but this is made by 1847 Rogers Bros with a monogram that says Keith. The butter dish is not monogrammed.
