I am a vinyl fanatic and have been buying classic albums for nearly sixty years. During that time I have constantly purchased new versions of my original albums. On this basis, I am selling some of my cherished, original copies, including this classic masterpiece recorded by The Who in 1969 to make more room in my record cabinets.

This copy of Tommy was purchased on release in May 1969 and is an early pressing with a laminated outer sleeve and machine numbered, limited edition booklet (48722) in excellent condition. Only albums with 1 matrix numbers are truly 1st issues. The overall condition of the sleeve is excellent with slight wear on the spine as one of the albums is in the centre of the triple layered cover. You will notice my name on the rear of the sleeve. This resulted from the Dymo Tape craze at the time and I see it as adding to the provenance of this great album as the original owner.

First issue labels can easily be determined by the fact that on the left hand side of each label the catalogue number has Double Album underneath it and in brackets (Record 2 etc.) and nothing underneath the ST 33 marking on the right side of the label.

All four labels are in great condition with only a slight sign of spindle wear on Side 1 that does not impact on the stability of the disc when being played. Both albums are totally stable and flat, resulting in a very dynamic sound on playback with a great soundstage on both discs. There are no visible signs of neglect and no scratches, pops or clicks. Having been played on quality equipment, including checking the album prior to this listing I am happy to grade the vinyl as EX bordering on EX+ throughout. The quality of the vinyl still stands up after 54 years of ownership.
