Vintage 1978 Ceremonial Hawaiian Monkey Pod Wood Dish / Bowl

I have some guesses regarding the origins of this bowl, but they are long shots. The "Hawaii District" suggests that it is related to some milestone event in education. The phrase "Ahahui Nui" or "Grand Council / Organization" may also be a traditional council, political group, or a support organization. There is nothing in my research around this time that has much of anything to do with a million gallons.

I would be interested to learn, if anyone has ideas or knowledge.
