For auction we have this beautiful large antique Islamic Damascus tray. The tray dates from the late 19th century adding to its value and uniqueness. The circular tray is made from brass which has been beautifully hand chased. In the centre of the tray there is beautiful roundel which has been hand chased with little fish all over. This is an unusual designs. These types of trays would typically be decorated with a geometric or floral or other arabesque medallions in the centre - so the school of fish design is very rare to see.

Further out the tray there are six stunningly beautiful bands of Arabic thuluth script hand chased to a very high standard. In between each of these lines there are beautiful arabesque motifs. There are further lines of hand chased detailing around the tray completed in an intricate interlocking design.

The tray has been completed with a turned edge around the rim.

This is a beautiful large decorative tray which would look stunning displayed on the wall or perhaps on a wooden stand and used as a coffee table with tonnes of charm and character.
